Salvaged!

Last time I wrote about cleaning out my closet. I came away from that experience with quite a mountain of clothes to donate and a few pieces that I thought I could salvage. One of these pieces was a skirt that I wore only once to go to the theater with an ex-boyfriend and his family. After that it was hung up in the closet and gradually moved to the back as newer clothes took its place.

This skirt has a similar length and silhouette to the pencil skirt I need to complete my list of "essesntials" for rebuilding my wardrobe. I was excited to realize this and couldn't wait to try it on and see how it looked.

This was a learning experience. I now know that this skirt requires a slip if I'm to wear it in public and remain decent. I also learned that while it's necessary to purge old pieces from the closet every now and then, some items can be saved. I honestly never thought I would wear this skirt again, but now I definitely plan to. What do you guys think about this outfit? Is there anything you would do differently? I'm not really pleased with how wide I look in this picture. I'm thinking a solid colored skirt might help create an elongating effect?

P.S. I love the necklace I am wearing in this picture. I bought it at Kohls on sale to brighten up the dark purple dress I wore to my college graduation on Sunday.

  1. I think I would wear the skirt, because it's so loose, with a more fitted top maybe a tank.. It's cute though!
